20 weeks

They're swallowing more these days, which is good practice for their digestive system. Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed!

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. They're also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of their head to their bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, they're measured from head to toe.)

*How far along?: 20 weeks- half-way there!

*Total weight gain: Another 2-3kg over the last 2 weeks, eek.

*How big is baby?: Cantaloupe

*Maternity clothes?: Bought two new t-shirts for work

*Sleep?: I had two weird dreams, one in which some guy punched NBH and I then mouthed off at him and he grabbed me and another where these red spots on my chest started bleeding. Also had one where I was dating Paul Rudd and another where I baked Nutella cupcakes; they were more pleasant.

*Best moment this week?: Amazingly decadent (and free!) dinner at the Millennium for our anniversary

*Movement?: Getting kicked a lot. Mostly after I eat or if I am leaning over (like at my desk)

*Food cravings?: Lack of cravings; nothing ever sounds good

*Labor signs?: Nope

*Belly button in or out?: Put in the PTFE belly bar and as my stomach pushes out it is super obvious that I have a stomach piercing and not a belly button piercing, not very attractive, but then neither is two holes on my stomach.

*What I miss: Energy, still.

*What I'm looking forward to: Detailed scan on Friday and *hopefully* finding out what the bebe is packing (check out the poll on the top of the blog)

*Milestone: Half-way there!
