What I Wore Wednesday

The weather has totally turned on us in Glasgow and it has made me really sad. I've already posted about my kick ass Ohio Bandits Apparel Co "I love Ohio" t-shirt previously and you can see it in my MicroScooter review so this week I'm flashing back to the warm weather and what I wore two weeks ago to a social media event in Glasgow.

I bought this maxi dress super crazy mega reduced at the end of last summer. Butterfly prints were really in last summer but I couldn't find a single item that I liked until I found this dress. I actually almost bought it before it went on sale but they didn't have the dress in my size. When I saw it in my size and on sale I snapped it up even though I knew I wouldn't really get a chance to wear it again until next year.

The material is sorta shiny and slippery and hard to describe; despite the fact that it is a bit of a tight fit in the chest (what isn't on me?) it is actually really comfortable and was the perfect choice for a hot day.

Do you buy clothes end of season and save them for next year or do you tend to shop only the current season?

Today is the last day to vote for the Mad Blog Awards! Voting closes at 5pm BST-- if you are so inclined would you consider voting Transatlantic Blonde Best Fashion Blog? Thanks!

  2. Too funny Blondie, I am wearing the EXACT SAME DRESS today. I got it from eBay after seeing an acquaintance wear it at a wedding last year. Hope you're not likely to be over at my side of the city today! You look beautiful xx

  6. Love your maxi dress.  It looks very comfy.  I always try to buy things that are drastically reduced and that usually means buying out of season.  It works for me.

  7. What a gorgeous maxi dress, love the print. I'm so with you on the weather, I was deeply saddened last night to have to turn the heating on last night. x

  13. I'll buy shoes for me or stuff for my kids at the end of a season, but I don't normally buy clothes then.  I'm too fickle and will change my mind by the time it comes to actually wear it.  Love the butterfly dress!

  14. I'm a huge maxi dress and flipflop fan - so cute! I wish they made maxis that fit my body {I'm too long in the torso and too tall}!!

  15. I try to shop the sales, especially for my kids, but who knows for sure what size they will be next season? Oh well, I guess I'll just have to buy for me! ;)

  16. I have the same problem! Pretty much everything is too snug in the chest. ;)  And I absolutely will buy something end of season clearance and save it for the next year. ;) It is so much fun to pull out your seasonal stuff and have some brand new stuff to wear.
Love the dress on you - you look adorable. ;)

  17. Good to see the sun shining in your neck of the woods! And great job on the maxi, I don't wear any dresses or skirts below the knee because I feel I look like a night stand. And YES I buy out of season and save for the next. You know me, I snap up good deals.

  18. Cute dress! I must admit I don't usually buy end of season stuff, because unless it's a piece I really love, I tend to buy stuff that's on trend for one season.

  19. Yes, I definitely have bought things I knew I might only wear a time or two before the weather changed. And your dress is pretty, so it's a great beat-the-heat investment for next year.

  20. I really need to do it more often. I love shopping sales and the sales here seem to be weather specific!

  21. I've never really done it before! I was desperate to get end of season black boots but no dice :(

  22. WTF do you mean you look like a night stand weirdo? Unfortunately that sun was two weeks ago. We built a brand new kick ass jungle gym thing for BB and of course it is rainy and gross now.

  23. Thank you! There is a store here called Pepperberry which has different sizes like "10- Curvy" and "10-Super Curvy" so they always fit in the boobs. I love it but it is a bit expensive!

  24. That is my problem! I always think I should do that for BB but who knows what size he'll be when!

  33. We built up a super amazing jungle gym thing for Blondie Boy while he was at his Grandma's and of course it is POURING now :(

  35. Thanks Tiffany! I liked that it was butterflies without being too OTT

  36. That is my problem I am SO impatient! I need to try and be better. My Mom taught me to always go to the sale rack first and then look at the rest of the store so I do follow her rules :)

  37. I'm very lucky BB is an only grandchild so I very rarely have to buy him clothes :)

  38. You look gorgeous, love that dress, good old Dotty P's! I also wanted something with butterflies last year but never did find anything :( I just always buy what I like (when I can) and if it comes around again then all the better :)
