What I Wore Wednesday: TK Maxx Shopping Spree

Last Friday I was whisked off to London thanks to TK Maxx to go shopping for my outfit for The Mad Blog Awards. Y'all already know I'm a HUGE TK Maxx fan so I was super excited especially as the High Street Kensington store is notoriously amazing for its semi-formal and formal wear and their "Gold Label" range.

I had no idea how I'd never heard of "Gold Label" up until now but OMG I'm so glad I know now. We are talking THE most amazing designers at THE most amazing prices. Some of my favourite designers, we are talking the types of people who show regularly at fashion week, and reduced from over £2,000 to down to £200! Crazy right?

So some of the other finalists and I had a great time looking through dresses and trying different things on. I wish I could have fit in some of the designers but those that did fit weren't flattering or had weird pockets right on the widest part of my body. It was frustrating but it gave me the kick in the ass I need to start eating healthier which is obviously a good thing!

Originally I went for this dress (while being mega jealous of Liz's find by one of my favourite designers) even though I had some concerns about it. After shopping we were treated to a fabulous lunch and had a great time chatting and laughing and if I'm honest talking about body hair far too much. Seriously I had a dream about it that night but I digress. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone again at the awards!

When I got home I tried on the dress for NotBlondeHusband and realised I didn't totally love it. So today I went to the Argyle Street branch of TK Maxx which also carries Gold Label brands to find a new dress. I tried on A LOT. There are some dresses I didn't get a photo of but these were a few.

TK Maxx Designer Dresses

I didn't buy any of the above but there were some hot contenders! What did I get? Well you'll just have to wait until the awards! I bought two dresses and am still undecided on which one I will wear. There is still a chance I'll go back to TK Maxx again and try on more. Can you tell I'm incredibly indecisive?

TK Maxx provided my travel and a gift card to purchase an outfit but all opinions are my own!

And, forgive me if this is a silly question, but is TK Maxx in the UK like TJ Maxx here in the US? Just curious...

  9. It is exactly the same! There is a store here called TJ Hughes and they didn't want people to confuse it with that so it is TK instead of TJ :)

  12. You'd love the Gold Label bit! I'm not 100% on your exact location but I *think* the closest one to you is Coney Street in York? Does that sound right? I'd LOVE to go shopping with you! Come to Glasgow we can't be that far ;)

  13. I did like that dress but IRL the darts around the tummy were NOT flattering at all. It really emphasised my c-section tummy :(

  15. I think the closest Gold Label store to you is Cardiff but I could be wrong! You can buy Gold Label on line, too!

  20. Dress shopping is really tough for me because I have quite a small waist but I've got big boobs and a butt (not to mention a c-section tummy) so sizes fit me very differently. I still had a great time though!

  21. It motivated me to do what I need to do though. I'm on Day 3 of Weight Watchers and hopefully on a way to a shape/size I'm happier with :)

  22. I adore it! I live around the corner from one so I tend to go in all the time looking for goodies lol.

  24. TJ Maxx in the US has a similar section called the Runway where they carry Tory Burch, Kate Spade, Rebecca Taylor, etc. It's pretty awesome.

  38. It is actually nude sequins on the skirt believe it or not! I loved it too but it was SO short it barely covered my tush!

    ReplyDelete
  39. To be fair the dresses were spread out over three different TK Maxx stores....lol.

  40. Gotta LOVE TJ MAxx! Also, did you spell that wrong? TK instead of TJ? Or is it TK in your area?

  44. This looks like so much fun! I'm jealous!

  45. Not a spelling mistake. It is the same store as in the USA but is called TK Maxx in Europe to avoid confusion with a store that has TJ in its name.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Me too but the darts weren't flattering on my tummy.

    ReplyDelete
  47. That first one the skirt fell kind of funny. I'm so picky!

    ReplyDelete
  48. It is Moschino and I loved it but where the pockets hit me was SUPER unflattering.

  49. Thanks for another great linkup! THere are so many links this week to visit! Yay! :)
