What I Wore Wednesday: Rocky Horror Picture Show

We've had so much on lately and work has been crazy busy--I'm just perpetually exhausted. Last week though I went to go see the Rocky Horror Show with my friend Susan at the Kings Theatre in Glasgow. I'm a HUGE RHPS fan and I'd never seen the stage show so I was really excited. Since I was coming straight from work and Susan was taking the train in alone we nixed the idea of costumes. I did give myself a Rocky Horror inspired manicure though for good measure.

I bought the skirt from the same sale I bought the sugar skull necklace from last week but I'm still not 100% on it. I needed a new skirt though and it was £8 so it worked. I should be able to wear a lot of different tops with it since it's black but since it's plaid it isn't too boring. Kilts are totally back this A/W and plaid makes me think of kilts so it's vaguely trendy, right?

What I Wore Wednesday: Fabulous

I've just gotten in to Ohio from Scotland so apologies if this post makes little to no sense.  I got my passport back on Saturday and booked flights back the same day. After three different delays I'm here! Unfortunately Blondie Boy and NotBlondeHusband couldn't come with me but I'm looking forward to spending time with my family.

A few weeks ago I took part in a photoshoot for Fabulous Magazine for "School Yard Chic" I had two outfits; first an amazing Rebecca Torres dress:

How cute do my friends Glasgow Mummy & Hayley look, too? We had a fun day (even though it was rainy at first--hence the frizzy hair) playing models and smizing for the day. Although I got a bunch of blank looks when I mentioned booty touching---maybe I need to watch less ANTM!

What I Wore Wednesdays: Pattern Mixing and Boots

I can remember a time that I would never even consider pattern mixing but since starting What I Wore Wednesday over a year ago I've been trying all sorts of new outfit combinations. I love finding new outfit inspirations and trying things that are out of my comfort zone. I really hope that y'all feel the same way and are finding new trends and making new fashion friends. Oy that sounded corny but you know what I mean!

Anyway here I am mixing three different patterns in one outfit or, if you count the studded bag as well, four! I never would have done even a year ago!  I've had this sparkly striped sweater since before Blondie Boy was born but I've had my flowered Docs since 1995! Talk about shopping in your own closet :)

I'd attempted to curl my hair before the meeting but it just looked a hot mess so I ended up clipping it back. I'm not a fan of my hair pulled back but what are you going to do. If I asked Blondie Boy how I'd look he'd say "as cool as a cucumber" but that is his general rebuke when you tell him anything is a hot mess :)

I've been dying for a studded bag ever since I feel into lust with Karen's RomyGold Drew Hobo on SMASH last season but since I don't have an extra $500 kicking about I've been looking for a more affordable option. It's not exactly what I wanted but I can fit my iPad in it for meetings and it's inexpensive enough that I don't have to worry about ruining it. Can anyone tell me what the deal is with the extra, non-detachable, long strap though? I've seen it on a lot of bags this season and I just don't get it!

I do love my flowered Docs and I'm trying to find the best way to wear them; back in the day I wore them literally with everything but I feel that when you are 15 you can get away with that but not so much now. Since they are broken in to the extreme they are super comfy so I do want to wear them more often.

The weather in Glasgow has been awful so we've all been rocking boots lately. Even NBH has gotten his own pair of guy's boots from Debenhams and Blondie Boy has sheepskin style boots of his own. It's nice to keep your feet dry and stylish!

NBH had been struggling and really only had either gym shoes or dress shoes so his new boots are a fab inbetween option when he wants to wear something nicer than gym shoes but not shoes he'd wear with a suit. Debenhams actually had a huge range of men's boots on sale so he was spoiled for choice but ended up with these brown leather ankle boots from Red Herring. How cute does BB's tiny boots look next to his Dad's giant boots? Hopefully we'll get a chance to all go out and rock our boots together soon!

What I Wore Wednesday: Retirement Celebration

Last Thursday my Mother-in-Law retired so NotBlondeHusband, Blondie Boy and I went out to dinner with her to celebrate. I bought yet another Cynthia Rowley dress from TK Maxx and hadn't worn it yet so decided now was the time! Unfortunately it was pouring rain and blowing a gale so I couldn't wear cute shoes. I know some people are very, very, very anti sheepskin style boots but when it is disgustingly cold and wet outside and you are running to and from the car with a toddler cute shoes just don't cut it!

I had to bundle up with my skull scarf and my Zara coat. I some how managed to lose my favourite black leggings in our massive clear out so I had to go buy a new pair but used a gift card I found in said clear out so not a total loss.

I even busted out my Katy Perry "Oh Honey" fake eyelashes. I've only worn them once before but I love them. They are easy to put on and after that initial weird fake eyelash feeling I don't even notice they are on!

I love this nail polish I got at the grocery for only 89p! Plus it is Fast Dry which I love because I'm impatient.

The dress has pockets which I love and zip detailing on the back that I forgot to take a photo of! I'm planning on wearing it when I fly down to London to go into the office this week. I'm thinking with my leopard heels? Do you think that would work?

What I Wore Wednesday: Mallorca

I don't think I mentioned it here but last weekend I took a mini-break to Mallorca for some sun and relaxation. For those who don't know Mallorca (also called Majorca-the spelling I defer to is the Catalan while the one here is Spanish) is the largest of a group of islands called the Balearics off the east coast of Spain in the Mediterranean sea.

I got mega-crazy cheap flights as well as an amazing deal at the Barceló hotel in Cala Viñas which is a really beautiful and quiet part of the island. It is close enough to "livlier" areas if you are down for that sort of thing and only 20 minutes from Palma and 25 from Palma airport-- hiring a car again was mega cheap.

I usually don't like going back to the same place twice but I'd really love to go back with NotBlondeHusband and Blondie Boy. It is only a 2 1/2 hour flight or so from Glasgow so it really is an ideal short-haul journey. That being said the lost cost airline I took out was a freaking nightmare--not because of the staff, but because of the other passengers; that is another story for another time.

I refuse to pay the crazy prices low-cost airlines charge for checked luggage so I had to limit what I brought with me. Here is what I wore on my mini-break to Mallorca:

Flying Out: Note to self- White Top and Black Cardigan makes my boobs look even more ginourmous than normal-- avoid! I always like to wear layers on flights because planes almost always end up cold when in the  air. I ended up losing the scarf and sweater when we landed as I was roasting even though it was 9pm!

Site seeing around Palma: I went with a tank top and jeans. I was tempted to wear a sundress but I just thought I'd be more comfortable in jeans and I was right. It was a little hot but not sweaty hot and as there are lots of winding streets it was cooler in the shade walking around.

Chilling on the Beach: My mother-in-law brought me back this sundress back from her honeymoon in Florida and it made the perfect beach cover-up since it also didn't look out of place sitting at the beach bar having a daiquiri either! I'd normally never pick orange for myself so I was pleasantly surprised that it worked!

What I Wore Wednesday: Accessories

I looked super cute in the Loft trousers and Banana Republic top for my meeting last week but somehow I managed not to get a photo when I thought I had so you'll just have to trust me on that one. 


So this week my outfit is pretty boring with the exception of my Alexander McQueen wanna-be scarf I got on our trip to Sweden. I've kinda got a thing for skulls and I've wanted a scarf like this for ages and I liked the length and fabric of this one. I'm still not 100% sure how to wear scarves but hey I tried!
