Win the new Kindle with Transatlantic Blonde and Capital One!

For most of us, usinga credit card is mostly associated with special or larger purchases. I did not even own a credit card until we got engaged and I got one to pay for our hotel, flights and other big purchases. Most people use credit cards for one offitems like holidays, presents, gig tickets and festivals and purchase every day essentials like groceries and takeaways using cash or debit cards. It’seasier for those of us who are particularly budget conscious to keep an eye onwhat’s coming in and (most importantly) going out of our accounts.

However, did you know that many credit cards offer cashback on products that you purchase? This isn’t like getting cashback on your debit card – it’s normally a small percentage of your purchases credited to your account on a regular basis. Obviously it’s not a good idea to put lots more purchases on your credit card – if you don’t pay off the full amount each month, the money you are getting back is going to be instantly wasted on interest payments! That said, for spending that you’ve already got planned, it’s a good way to put your credit card to good use. You need make doubly sure that you pay off your balance every month.

The lovely people at Capital One want to know what YOU think about Cash Back Cards and in return one of you will win a brand new Kindle! How's that for an early Christmas present?

To enter answer the survey questions and follow the rules below!

Good luck!

Easy way to earn a little extra cash.

Melaina25 said...

I'm a big fan of making cards work for you. Not as on top of it as I was before kids :)

Melaina25 said...

I used to have a cashback credit card, and I really liked it, but the cashback scheme was withdrawn, so I'm keeping my eyes open for what other options are available :)

Melaina25 said...

It's my first time here. Cute wee boy and fab prize :)

Melaina25 said...

I dont have any cash back cards

Melaina25 said...

I don't have a credit card but my hubby does and he has got one which pays cashback - very handy in the current economic climate!

I don't use cashback cards but I do get cashback on some purchases by using Quidco.

Melaina25 said...

I own two cashback cards

Melaina25 said...

I have a credit card to use on line, but no cashback cards.

Melaina25 said...

I think it is too easy to get into debt as it is, I don't like credit cards no matter what 'cashback' offer or incentive there is.

Melaina25 said...

It would be nice if they gave you more cash back.

Melaina25 said...

I haven't used a cashback card but may consider it if I knew more about how it works.

Melaina25 said...

I shop through cashback sites but don't have a cashback card.I think they're a great idea though.

Melaina25 said...

I use cashback sites but not cashback cards

Melaina25 said...

i don't have any cash back cards but i have just discovered quidco in time for xmas! woohoo

Melaina25 said...

Used to have one until they ended the scheme. Not going to keep applying for new cards just for cashback.

Melaina25 said...

I don't have one not sure I will.

Melaina25 said...

What are your thoughts on cash back cards?

Sent from my iPad

Melaina25 said...

I love that I get email and text reminders to pay my card. No excuses then :)

Melaina25 said...

Love cashback its money for nothing, I have a cashback credit card and regularly use cashback websites when urchasing online.

Melaina25 said...

they are a great idea as long as they are used sensibly (like any credit card)

Melaina25 said...

What are our thoughts on cashback cards?

Sent from my iPad

Melaina25 said...

I think is great to have a card that gives cash back.

Melaina25 said...

I cannot be trusted with a Credit card ;o) Though I think the idea is great!

Melaina25 said...

I don't have one...I would rather use cash :)

Melaina25 said...

YAY for Kindles!!!!

Melaina25 said...

I love my amazon credit card... not strictly cashback but a similar idea.  I do my day-to-day spending on it and periodically they email me a £10 code for Amazon.  Fabby :-)

Melaina25 said...

I haven't yet changed to a credit card that has cashback rewards but might make it a New Year's resolution to check it out.

Melaina25 said...

i just need to remember to do it.... great idea.

Melaina25 said...

I don't have one at the moment. I do not think I will get one.

Melaina25 said...

I have to admit I'm not sure what cashback cards are, & I don't have any.

Melaina25 said...

I do not have any but if you often use a card for payment then I guess it is worth using one x

Melaina25 said...

Wouldn't mind a Kindle, reading so much lately and they look so handy

Melaina25 said...

I don't have cashback cards and even after reading the info on your blog, I'm still a bit confused about it! (takes a while for these things to sink in for me lol).  I'd like to learn more though - but I do tend to purchase with cash or else I just forget about it and the debts pile up :(

Melaina25 said...

I think that they are a good idea and have used them in the past

Melaina25 said...

I don't have one

Melaina25 said...

i dont use credit cards only switch

Melaina25 said...

i use other cashback mostly

Melaina25 said...

I havent used cash back so dont know how it works at all

Melaina25 said...

i  dont use cash back tbh xx

Melaina25 said...

I don't own any cashback cards as yet but I do use a cashback website for internet shopping which I find to be a brilliant little bonus.  I don't know if encouraging spending on credit cards is a great idea though, to be honest. Not with the current economic climate.

Melaina25 said...

What a cool prize x

Melaina25 said...

I've used cashback cards in the past and if you select yours careful (i.e. no point getting cash back but paying over the odds elsewhere!) then you can really benefit!

Melaina25 said...

I understand the cashback cards, but cant get one, income too low!
@buttonf1fan

Melaina25 said...

Cool prize, I will keep my fingers crossed and perhaps my toes too

Melaina25 said...

Great competition, and I never enter any....but run many ;))) @Kahanka

Melaina25 said...

We used to use an Egg cashback card for our household spending, we're now with the coop where we get dividend instead :)

Melaina25 said...

We buy everything on our credit card instead of a debit card to make the most of our cash back.

Melaina25 said...

Great comp - I'm a big fan of cashback programmes too.

Melaina25 said...

If I had a Kindle, it would save me lugging big hardback books around!

Melaina25 said...

Yay! I so want a Kindle! Never thought I'd say that but I dooooooo!

Melaina25 said...

See, this is nice and easy to enter!!!!

Melaina25 said...

I said I'd never convert to a Kindle but now I'm thinking "ooh, but think of all the books I could have in my pocket..."!

Melaina25 said...

I don't really get the whole cahsback thing, but it sounds like a good thing.

Melaina25 said...

I never used it. I mean cashback...

Melaina25 said...

Great prize! x

Melaina25 said...

I don't really use credit cards enough for cashback to be of benefit to be honest :)

Melaina25 said...

I must admit I got burned by using credit many years back and haven't had a credit card since then, would be very interested in getting cashback on purchases though!

Melaina25 said...

I dont own cashback cards but I use cashback websites if I need to order anything online, even put the works travel expenses through them.

@tiredmummyoftwo

Melaina25 said...

I don't do this cashback thing, seems a bit of a con to me.

Melaina25 said...

Why do you think its a con can I ask? If the T&C are laid out surely you know what charges apply?

Melaina25 said...

Would like this prize for my mum

Melaina25 said...

I'd love a kindle thanks.

Melaina25 said...

After getting into a big credit mess in my early 20's and thankfully getting it all paid off I have avoided credit like the plague since but I'm intrigued to know more about cash back on debit cards?

Melaina25 said...

Please can I enter :0)

Melaina25 said...

I only use cash or the odd time my debit card so I know where I am with my money.

Melaina25 said...

do not own a cashback card but do understand it. great competition by the way!

Melaina25 said...

follow the instructions and yes :)

Melaina25 said...

Hubby loves his Kindle...so now I'm jealous!

Melaina25 said...

I don't have any cashback cards, but I know how it works.

Melaina25 said...

We have a cashback credit card that we use for everything and pay it off every week / twice a week. It's great as long as you keep on top of it....like any card I guess.

Melaina25 said...

We've had a cashback card for a long time, well sort of... we get vouchers supermarket vouchers back rather than actual cash. But since it's where we do a lot of our shopping, it's the same difference for us!

Melaina25 said...

I don't own a cash back card - I like the idea of getting cash back for spending but need to stay awake and realise we're also charged to use credit cards so in the end it might help balance the cost/earnings. nothing's for free ;)

Melaina25 said...

We don't have a cashback card but I do like the idea of getting money back...

Melaina25 said...

I don't use cashback cards myself, but I do use the websites that are around.

Melaina25 said...

I don't tend to use cashback cards or the websites. I have set up some then never remember to use them!

BNM aka Barenakedmummy (sorry my disqus is set up app wrong!)

Melaina25 said...

I don't have a credit card, but I'm all over the cashbacks lol.

Melaina25 said...

I very recently got completely debt free - now I make the cards work for me, instead of vice-versa!

Melaina25 said...

I was scared off of credit cards after I got in over my head in college. It was hard work to pay off and haven't used them much since. Though with all the traveling we do, I should start to think about a card that gets me something in return!

Melaina25 said...

I am a huge fan of cards with cashback and rewards!

Melaina25 said...

I don't have a credit card at the moment, I don't have much credit here.  I plan on building it up and using it wisely to get cashback and rewards.

Melaina25 said...

Some quick and timely food for thought in that post

Melaina25 said...

I LOVE my capital one cash back card. It's like a Christmas present every couple of months I can use for whatever!

Melaina25 said...

I don't trust myself with one!

Melaina25 said...

Why don't you trust yourself?

Melaina25 said...

I find it very easy to convince myself i can spend more than I actually can. Maybe when I'm a grown-up...

Melaina25 said...

i think they are great - as long as used properly!

Melaina25 said...

I don't own any.

Melaina25 said...

Why don't you own any?

Melaina25 said...

Yay!  We use cashback credit cards all the time.  We pay the balance every month though - that's the important part :)

Melaina25 said...

I already have a Capital One card. Awesome giveaway!

vebbae @ yahoo . com

Melaina25 said...

I have a pile of credit cards from when there were loads of great deals to be had.  Now I don't use them.  But I know I could be saving money, just not sure I am disciplined enough!

Melaina25 said...

Well, as long as you think carefully about it and use them properly, then you can make them work for you.

Melaina25 said...

Agree that if you use cards properly you can make them work for you.  Kindles do rock though.

Melaina25 said...

Great giveaway and great tips on the cashback. We have a few cards with cashback and rewards and we really should utilize them more.

Melaina25 said...

Hi! I entered but not sure it's showing? Let me know. Missed linky for What I Wore Wed, but will try to do next week. Gotta remember, gotta remember xx

Melaina25 said...

I havent used cash back so dont know how it works at all

Melaina25 said...

We don't have a cashback card, but we do use Quidco. We got I think £150 back last year.

Melaina25 said...

I think I need to investigate a bit further

Melaina25 said...

From what I've heard, the US banks offer better cashback perks, but I haven't tried these cards on either side of the pond. Definitely need to look into it more.

Melaina25 said...

I don't really know anything about cashback on cards, I am ashamed to say :(

Melaina25 said...

Answered survey, and RT

Melaina25 said...

id rather have lower intrest

Melaina25 said...

I think they are a good idea, but I don't think there are many people who can manage to pay the card in full at the end of the month.

Melaina25 said...

They are a good idea if you are strong and know your budget inside out.

Melaina25 said...

I think if you are good at knowing when and how to pay things off they're great.

Melaina25 said...

I don't use a cashback scheme - probably should!

Melaina25 said...

Good idea for those in control of their finances. I dont have one

Melaina25 said...

I don't own any, sounds too much like a credit card. I prefer to spend money within my means and not spend on credit, so that I can keep on a strict budget.

Melaina25 said...

I dont use cashback cards as I never have any credit left lol

Melaina25 said...

I no longer have one lol.... No thanks.
@clairelouise82

Melaina25 said...

I don't have any and don't have a clue how to use them!
@cheepcheepcheep

Melaina25 said...

I don't have one and haven't a clue how they really work!

@cheepcheepcheep

Melaina25 said...

Used wisely they can work - but you need to keep on top of it all the time.

Melaina25 said...

don't have any credit cards

Melaina25 said...

I've never used cash back cards as I still like to pay everything by old fashioned notes and coins. Sounds as though there are quite good deals around by using cash back though.

Melaina25 said...

I have a card that offers airline miles + cash back if you click thought a "shopping" link on their website.  Best of both worlds!

Melaina25 said...

Im the same, I understand them but dont use them. My current Credit card I pay off in one go so I never owe anything on it. I actually had the credit rating lowered this year as I was scared of online fraud. @stralisemiai

Melaina25 said...

Unsure what the whole thing is!

Melaina25 said...

Don't tend to use credit cards as I forget how much I spend!

Melaina25 said...

I've never used any cashback cards. Don't think I ever will either.

Melaina25 said...

Good if you use them sensibly

Melaina25 said...

AA MasterCard

Melaina25 said...

I always use a cashback credit card and pay my account in full each month.  It is like having an extra discount on what I am buying, & every little helps!

Melaina25 said...

I don't have a cashback card, used too but credit card company changed rules and I haven't changed credit card...

Melaina25 said...

Always try to use cashback cards, but as with all cards, spend within your means

Melaina25 said...

I just never get around to getting one. Lazy I suppose.

Melaina25 said...

I don't have any credit cards and just have a standard debit card xx

Melaina25 said...

I've had a cashback card for over 10 years - I don't spend any more than I would with a debit card, but by putting everyday purchases on, and clearing in full each month, it give me a little something back!

Melaina25 said...

I don't have a cashback card but I think I will check it out

Melaina25 said...

Still haven't got a credit card. I worry I would be inclined to overspend with one.

Melaina25 said...

I don't have a cash back card, I was always with the same credit card company until they changed their rules, rather use cash now. I can keep a tighter reign on spending that way

Melaina25 said...

Never used credit cards, but cashback sounds like a good idea.

Melaina25 said...

I'm a cash kinda girl. I've never used my debit in a shop to pay for anything, i always use cash. I hate credit cards. I prefer to have the money in my hand and know what i'm spending.

Melaina25 said...

Great idea as long as you are going to spend anyway - not tempted to build up a mountain of debt just for the cashback though!

Melaina25 said...

Try to pay cash mostly now. Not keen on credit card companies.

Melaina25 said...

Sometime I use cashback site but not really credit cards as I try and not use credit cards if i can help it

Melaina25 said...

I shop through cashback sites but I have never heard of a cashback card before!

Melaina25 said...

Haven't used cash back, but mainly as I've been lazy and miss out on deals!"

Melaina25 said...

I have a card that offers airline miles + cash back if you click
thought a "shopping" link on their website.  Best of both worlds!

Melaina25 said...

I have used cashback offers before now to help my finances, you just have to be careful with what you're doing!

Melaina25 said...

I try to stick to cash, as it's too east to overspend on cards

Melaina25 said...

I do like cashback cards but it's disappointing that the cashback rate drops after a promotional period and unless you want to chop and change cards often, it's difficult to get a good return

Melaina25 said...

I own and use a cashback credit card regularly.

Melaina25 said...

i use cashback sites, but never heard of a cashback card, i suppose this part of the future finance management

Melaina25 said...

Did the survey

Melaina25 said...

I don't like the principal of money for nothing.  Someone pays down the line and I guarantee it will be the poorest in society.

Melaina25 said...

use d cashback sites for several years

Melaina25 said...

i don't own any at all, as i don't have credit cards

Melaina25 said...

I'm sceptical about cashback cards. If they're giving on one hand, they must be taking with the other.

Melaina25 said...

Never heard of cashback cards before

Melaina25 said...

cash back cards make me nervous for people. I do not have a single credit card right now!

Melaina25 said...

Not sure, I guess it encourages spending for some people, but they would do it anyhow. So, I guess generally in favour of them.

Melaina25 said...

I don't have any cashback credit cards

Melaina25 said...

I don't use credit cards at the moment I get in to much trouble!

Melaina25 said...

Have used cashback sites but not a cashback credit card - in the process of limiting and elimainating debt at the moment so fewer cards is probably better!

Melaina25 said...

Dont really know that much about it, dont really use it

Melaina25 said...

bit confused as to what they are and don't have one

Melaina25 said...

I am curious about cash back cards but I feel like I don't know enough...

Melaina25 said...

I don't have a cashback credit or debit card but I do use cashback websites when shopping online. You don't get a great deal of money back but it's still a nice bonus :)

Melaina25 said...

I didn't really understand it all but I think I'm getting to grips with it now  x

Melaina25 said...

I don't have one, but would proberly look into getting one

Melaina25 said...

dont have one but would rather stick with cash

Melaina25 said...

I use cashback all the time, brilliant idea, find it really hard to convince people that they can save so much, falls on deaf ears but I keep trying

Melaina25 said...

Good way of saving money

Melaina25 said...

cashback or not I leave credit cards well alone since I got into debt when i was first married and hubby lost his job! The only credit card i've had since was a prepaid one i needed when i went on holiday.

Melaina25 said...

Don't bother with cashback cards, prefer to get my cashback online

Melaina25 said...

I don't use credit cards so don't understand how the cashbacks work

Melaina25 said...

Don't have any cashback cards

Melaina25 said...

I don't own any but my husband has one he uses for petrol. I do use cashback sites on the internet though which sort of work in a similar way! If I was making lots of big purchases I would get a cashback card.

Melaina25 said...

I try not to use a credit card

Melaina25 said...

I get how cashback works but I never do it on my credit card

Melaina25 said...

I use a cashback card all the time - by paying off the full balance each month, we dont incur charges and - we get a bonus at Christmas

Melaina25 said...

I use cashback sites but dont have a card

Melaina25 said...

I use a card that gives me vouchers instead of cashback, but I wonder whether cashback would be better

Melaina25 said...

I would love to win!

Melaina25 said...

I use quidco for cashback but don't have a cashback credit card or debit card.

Melaina25 said...

I havent used cash back I just never think of it but it is useful

Melaina25 said...

I don't use any cashback systems but I will find out more about it very soon as it intrigues me.

Melaina25 said...

I know about cashback but I no longer have credit cards, cash only nowadays

Melaina25 said...

I like cashback cards, a good way to save some money

Melaina25 said...

Here is my comment. I prefer to use cash or debit cards to keep track of spending. Credit cards for online and big purchases but paid off in full every month.

Melaina25 said...

As long as you use a cashback card with the knowledge you must repay in full each and every month, it can reap major financial dividends. Especially for any large purchases which you had already decided on, such as a car, a holiday or other high value item. With such a spend, you can make a lot back, giving you a real sense of how effective such a credit card can be so financially beneficial.

Melaina25 said...

I know about cashback but never use credit cards, debit cards only.
@12kazuko12

Melaina25 said...

If you combine cashback credit cards with cashback websites like TopCashback and Quidco, the savings can really mount up!

Melaina25 said...

I've never used any cashback cards

Melaina25 said...

I've never used any cashback cards

Melaina25 said...

i dont own any cash back cards. i dont use credit cards, just spend what ive got

Melaina25 said...

great comp. cashback is a good help sometimes

Melaina25 said...

I don't own any cashback cards. I always feel I have to spend loads (which I really don't want to do) to make them worthwhile.

Melaina25 said...

i do not own any cashback cards x

Melaina25 said...

I don't use credit cards as it's so easy to get in a lot of debt!

Melaina25 said...

good if you can pay them off in full

Melaina25 said...

thanks for the giveaway

Melaina25 said...

cashback cards - waste of time - I'd rather have a 0% or low rate interest card

Melaina25 said...

I don't think the amount of cashback available would help me since I only use a credit card when abroad and I have no cashback on my debit card and haven't seen a debit card offering it.

Melaina25 said...

I don't have a cashback card at the moment, but I would consider one because I always pay it off in full each month
