What I Wore Wednesday: First Day of New Job

I made it through my first day at my new job! I woke up about five times between 5am and before my alarm went off but I woke up on time and got ready and left the house at 8am to catch the bus. It was a beautiful morning and after the bus driver told me off for apparently waiting at the bus stop incorrectly (?) I had a pleasant enough bus ride especially as the bus now has free wifi--SCORE! It's a short 8 block walk (past 2 Starbucks--SCORE!) to my office from the bus stop and it's all down hill. If you've never been to Glasgow that down hill bit is important because the hills can be insanely steep in the city centre!

I wanted to wear something I'd be comfortable in but was also fairly nice because I really didn't know the dress code yet. I knew I had to wear flat shoes because I'd be walking from the bus and while I can attend events in heels I'm a long way from wearing heels all day yet! Add in the fact we had a high of 70 today (that's pretty here) and I came up with this:

Coral Skater Dress

Cropped Blazer, HM
Coral Cynthia Rowley Dress, TK Maxx
Studded Flats, Next
Studded Bag, New Look
Tie Dye iPhone Case, House of Holland

It's my first work bathroom selfie! What a milestone :) I went bare legged and even though my legs are so white they are translucent I'm glad I did since it was so hot today. I spent most of today just trying to get to grips with things and I think the rest of the week will be a mix of meetings and learning all the different services we offer and stake holders we have as well as reading through all of the strategy and policy--PHEW!

Blue Sunny Sky

After work I walked a mile (this time it was up some of the crazy hills and uphill in general) to my father-in-law's house to pick up Blondie Boy. It was such a gorgeous day we came straight home and played in the backyard until I realized it was almost 7pm and he hadn't eaten dinner yet! It's 10:30 now and the sun is just setting so even though I was in the office all day I think I've gotten to enjoy the sun, too!

Unfortunately not enough sun to bring my legs up a shade from translucent to cream cheese. We are off on vacation next week to Spain so I'll need to try and get a base tan soon or I will crisp up like a lobster over there! Do other people believe in getting a base tan before going on vacation or did I totally make that up? Has anyone been to Murcia? Do you have any suggestions?

What I Wore Wednesday: Fabulous

I've just gotten in to Ohio from Scotland so apologies if this post makes little to no sense.  I got my passport back on Saturday and booked flights back the same day. After three different delays I'm here! Unfortunately Blondie Boy and NotBlondeHusband couldn't come with me but I'm looking forward to spending time with my family.

A few weeks ago I took part in a photoshoot for Fabulous Magazine for "School Yard Chic" I had two outfits; first an amazing Rebecca Torres dress:

Oasis Black Leather Jacket
Cybher Satchel
Chelsea Skull Scarf
New Look Black Ankle Boots

I loved this body con, colour blocked dress but I think maybe the editors thought it was too dressy for the school run (to be fair the only time I'm not in sweats for the school run is when I have meetings so I am dressed up!) so they went with my second look:

Cynthia Rowley Skater Dress via TK Maxx
HM Cropped Blazer
New Look Hobo Bag
New Look Ankle Boots

To be fair I wear the hell out of this dress. I freaking love it and have worn it numerous times so it is a fairly good representation of my style.

IPhotograps by Alan Peebles
How cute do my friends Glasgow Mummy & Hayley look, too? We had a fun day (even though it was rainy at first--hence the frizzy hair) playing models and smizing for the day. Although I got a bunch of blank looks when I mentioned booty touching---maybe I need to watch less ANTM!

What do you wear when you take your children to school? Did this post make any sense? I'm pretty sure I've been up for almost 24 hours!

THANK YOU to everyone who nominated me for The Mad Blog Awards as I'm now a finalist for The Best Fashion and Beauty Blog! If you fancy voting for me voting is open now until March 26th! I really do appreciate everyone nominating me and am just stunned to be a finalist again!

What I Wore Wednesday: Retirement Celebration

Last Thursday my Mother-in-Law retired so NotBlondeHusband, Blondie Boy and I went out to dinner with her to celebrate. I bought yet another Cynthia Rowley dress from TK Maxx and hadn't worn it yet so decided now was the time! Unfortunately it was pouring rain and blowing a gale so I couldn't wear cute shoes. I know some people are very, very, very anti sheepskin style boots but when it is disgustingly cold and wet outside and you are running to and from the car with a toddler cute shoes just don't cut it!

Zara Coat
Chelsea Skull Scarf
Cynthia Rowley Dress
M&S Leggings
Sketchers Boots

I had to bundle up with my skull scarf and my Zara coat. I some how managed to lose my favourite black leggings in our massive clear out so I had to go buy a new pair but used a gift card I found in said clear out so not a total loss.

I even busted out my Katy Perry "Oh Honey" fake eyelashes. I've only worn them once before but I love them. They are easy to put on and after that initial weird fake eyelash feeling I don't even notice they are on!

I love this nail polish I got at the grocery for only 89p! Plus it is Fast Dry which I love because I'm impatient.

The dress has pockets which I love and zip detailing on the back that I forgot to take a photo of! I'm planning on wearing it when I fly down to London to go into the office this week. I'm thinking with my leopard heels? Do you think that would work?

What I Wore Wednesday: Weddings

This past weekend NotBlondeHusband and I went to the evening reception for his cousin's wedding. Shock of all shocks--I wore a Cynthia Rowley dress--if it ain't broke don't fix it.

HM Cropped Blazer
Purple Peep Toe Heels- Barrett's
Purple Flower Corsage- Dorothy Perkins

Ted Baker Suit and Tie

Please ignore the giant bruise on my knee, at least it matched my dress right? I changed it up a little bit and wore an oversized purple flower corsage on my jacket and painted my toenails teal to match the dress. I love how versitle the dress is that I can wear it to work or a wedding but it would be pretty boring to show you the same dress you've seen a gazillion times over again.

Today is NotBlondeHusband and my fourth wedding anniversary. We met 9 years ago this month, have lived together over 8 years and were married 4 years ago today. We both put up with each other's bullshit and I genuinely can't think of anyone else more perfect for me. We've had our ups and downs but after 9 years who hasn't?

I could say lots of things about our anniversary but instead I'm going to let the photos do the talking. I hope you don't mind my What I Wore Wednesday is a flashback but I thought it was pretty appropriate. You've already seen my purple wedding shoes but here is the rest of what I wore at my wedding. It is a bit picture heavy but it's my anniversary I think I can get away with it! All of the images below are property of White Photography in Cincinnati, Ohio.

What I Wore Wednesday: 24 Hours Down South

Apologies for another late What I Wore Wednesday post but I flew down to Heathrow on Tuesday afternoon as I needed to be down south for work on Wednesday and didn't get back until late Wednesday night.

On Tuesday I got to meet up with Lizzie from Mummy in Manolos and Jacqui from Mummy's Little Monkey for dinner and we had such a great time. We were horrible bloggers and didn't take a single picture of the three of us but I think it is kind of nice that we weren't attached to our phones and just enjoyed chatting! I did manage to snag a picture of what I wore in my hotel room mirror.

I had planned to wear super cute shoes but Blondie Boy was up with an ear infection all night the night before and I was so tired I figured flip-flops were a better bet:

Sequin Shouldered Top- Pussycat London
Old Navy The Flirt Jeans
Old Navy Blue Flip Flops
Brag About It Necklace

It was hard to get a photo that showed the sequin detail on the shoulders. I got this top ages ago in the New Look sale and I love how it is the perfect length to wear with jeans or leggings. It seemed the perfect top for a casual dinner with friends and was comfy to fly in as well. Of course when I was at the airport I thought it looked funny and then I realized it was on BACKWARDS. I told you Blondie Boy was up all night but not sure how I managed that one if I'm honest. Oh well. I had on a Brag It necklace with BB's name and birthday but you can't really see it in either photo.

First I didn't wear flip flops to work but the I wasn't going to run around Heathrow in heels if I didn't have to so by the time I took this photo they were off and packed. I was in back to back meetings all day so I didn't grab a photo until I was at Heathrow so I was super cool and took my picture in a bathroom at the airport. Pop-up airport bathroom fashion shows are all the rage, right?

If you can't tell I freaking love my Cynthia Rowley dresses; they are so comfortable and I get compliments every time I wear them which, lets be honest, is a nice thing. We have a wedding this weekend and I'm pretty sure I will wear one of them then too! I may or may not pop in to TK Maxx when I'm going past just to see if there are any different patterns--like I said I freaking love them.

What I Wore Wednesday: Do Over

So last week I gave you fake outfit for What I Wore Wednesday, so this week I'm giving you the REAL deal! NotBlondeHusband and I had our date night the following night and had a great night. I noticed it was "Lobster Thursday" at a Brown's on George Square as we were getting out of our taxi so we were impulsive and checked it out. I'm glad we did because the cocktails were huge (seriously y'all a pint of pina colada), there was pianist playing jazz versions of contemporary songs and the whole grilled lobster was cheaper than I've ever seen lobster in my life.

We went from Brown's to Boteco do Brasil in the Merchant City for their caipirinhas and open mic night. It wasn't really an open mic night as much as it was a Brasilian hootenanny with around 10 musicians all jamming and playing together. It was really cool and it was nice to have a night out just the two of us. So here is how I really wore last week's outfit:

HM Cropped Black Blazer

Nude Wedges-Truffle

I didn't realize until we were out that the wedges are about 4 inches high! They weren't too bad to walk in but I'm glad I had flip flops stashed in my bag for the walk between the restaurant and the bar. I tried out Gosh Lip Marker in Natural Brown that night too. I don't normally wear darker lip colours because it looks odd to me but NBH (and those of you on Instagram) seemed to approve.

Gosh lip marker brown

I forgot to stick it in my bag and was impressed how long it lasted considering I couldn't do any touch ups! Since it is shaped literally like a marker it was super easy to put on, too.

If you read the previous post you know I went to see Madonna on Saturday night. I was going to wear this swallow print top I got at HM but even layered over a pink tank top I wasn't 100% comfortable in it as it is quite sheer.

HM Swallow Print Tank Vest

Again I turned to Instagram (are you on Instagram? Are you obsessed like me?) and y'all approved but can you see how you see all the lumps and bumps of my jeans through the top? It made me really self conscious so I switched to my black skull top which I was more comfortable in; I was a bit hesitant to wear the exact same outfit I wore to Guns N Roses but what can you do. I really do love the pink top so any suggestions on how to wear it and feel comfortable please let me know!

Transatlantic Blonde was sent the GOSH Lip Marker but I was not asked to review it. As always all opinions are our own--surely you know by now I don't say things I don't want to!

What I Wore Wednesday: Loving the Sales!

The past few weeks I'm been in a bit of a funk and my anxiety has been creeping back. That horrible oppressive feeling of my chest tightening and wanting to burst into tears for no real reason at all. It happened last week so I decided to head to the mall.

I needed the fresh air (Glasgow Fort is an outdoor mall) and shopping always does one of two things for me: a) makes me feel loads better or b) makes me feel loads worse. A bit of a gamble but luckily for me this trip was the former and it really helped me exhale a little and smile. Almost every store had on a sale and I FINALLY found the nude wedges I've been searching for the past three months and ON SALE! SCORE!

I also got the same Cynthia Rowley dress I wore on my birthday but in a different pattern and best of all it was on clearance at TK Maxx for only £10!!! I love TK Maxx so much; stock and prices will vary by location but man can you get an amazing bargain! I've never really worn coral before but I love this shade.

NotBlondeHusband and I were going on a date tonight where I was going to debut my outfit but it has been rescheduled for tomorrow so you all are left with this totally ghetto and totally poorly planned mock photo shoot. Apologies in advance for what you're about to see:

Cynthia Rowley Skater Dress- TK Maxx
Truffle Nude Wedges-D2

Yea so I'm totally do the cliché "hand on neck" pose because I've got a chipped manicure. My hair is in a sock bun (made using Babylegs, who knew?) because I let my hair air dry all crazy and sunglasses because I have on no eye make-up. I told you it was ghetto. Blondie Boy's discarded Babylegs leg warmer actually worked really well for the sock bun though if you have any laying around.

To make up for such a bad post I've got a brand spanking new badge for you all! My fab friend Siân from Geek is the New Chic helped turn the amazing portrait Lizzie from Mummy in Manolos did of me into a new What I Wore Wednesday badge!  What do you think? I'll be said to see Cher Horowitz go as she is one of my original style icons but I'm I think the new badge better reflects what What I Wore Wednesday is all about-- mirror cell phone pics and all :) You can grab the new badge from the code in my blog sidebar!

What I Wore Wednesday: London Calling

blonde pink cartoon
I left to go down south for work on Thursday and didn't get back home until Sunday night and then Monday was my birthday. It was all a bit of a whirlwind but I had such a great weekend. The lovely Lizzie from Mummy in Manolos took me out for birthday dinner and drinks in Marlow Thursday night and look at this AMAZING drawing she did of me for my birthday!

I LOVE it! Check how I'm taking a photo of myself with my iPhone and of course I'm wearing pink-- when I'm back from holiday I suspect there will be a new WIWW button!

We had such a great time chatting away and having the most amazing dinner at La Cantina Del Vino which so authentically Italian most of the waiters didn't really speak English!  My lobster linguine was to die for and I have no idea what wine we ordered but it was delicious :)

The next morning I grabbed the train to Paddington station, grabbed a Krispy Kreme and took the tube into London. I stayed at my favourite hotel, The Andaz Liverpool Street, which is smack dab in the centre of EC1 and feels absolutely luxurious but won't  cost you more than any other hotel in the area.

That afternoon I had a lunch, cocktails with my girls Siân and Claire and an awards ceremony in the evening. I wanted something that could translate across all the events so I went with a floaty dress and a blazer with my favourite leopard heels.

Saturday was a conference so again I wanted to look nice but I also wanted to be comfortable since I knew it would be a long day. Luckily I struck gold, again, with another Cynthia Rowley dress from TK Maxx. The dress fits me perfectly and shows off my best best while masking my not so great bits. I paired it with my wedding shoes, yes I had purple wedding shoes, but threw flip-flops in my bag for the end of the day when I knew my feet would have had enough.

Don't Siân and Claire look super cute, too? We spent a lot of time chilling in the TK Maxx style lounge where you could try on clothes, relax on super comfy Home Sense chairs and chaises or get style advice on what clothes suit your body shape best. We also took a liking to Visit Orlando and Acer UK's photobooths but I can't say the booths liked us. Siân and I had one shut down and power off when we were in it and then the three of us almost knocked over another.  Needless to say we had a lot of fun in them!

The three of us talk on Skype all the time but it is rare we are actually in the same place together so it was great to hang out in person.  They also got me some AMAZING Doc Marten Darcie boots and a kick ass new skull scarf for my birthday that I am sure will feature in a future What I Wore Wednesday.

On my actual birthday NotBlondeHusband spoiled me rotten by taking me out to an overly indulgent dinner at Blytheswood Square Hotel in Glasgow and since I loved it so much I wore my Blue and Purple Cynthia Rowley dress again. It was actually sunny on my birthday so we got to have cocktails outside in the sunshine before devouring a truly amazing meal. If you are looking for the best steak in Glasgow the Blytheswood is the place to go!

I'm so lucky to have such amazing friends and family! Tomorrow NBH, Blondie Boy and I are off on holiday to France courtesy of Eurocamp and I can't wait to tell y'all about it when we get back! I will try my best to get a French WIWW edition up next week but I hope you'll forgive me if it is a wee bit delayed. Fingers crossed we have nice weather and this sneezing fit I'm having is just allergies and not a cold!

Our accommodation while on holiday is provided by Eurocamp but all travel and other expenses we will and have paid ourselves. All opinions on our holiday are our own and will be expressed as such.
