So this video of Katy Perry singing a Sesamed version of "Hot & Cold" with Elmo has been making the rounds on the internet and today it's been reported that PBS have decided not to air the clip because of complaints about her cleavage.
I actually let Blondie Boy watch this because he love his Tickle Me Elmo and pop music. I don't have any problem with it. I hate when adults put their own issues onto their children. She's not wearing an overtly sexy dress or doing anything inappropriate. Is the dress a little low cut? Yes, but come on small children aren't concerned about anything sexy. Women have breasts and hers are vaguely on display, but she's an adult. We shouldn't be ashamed of our bodies.
She's in her "dress-up" clothes and I think there is nothing sinister about it. Would you let your little one watch this? What do you think of the drama?

We never watch Sesame Street but I really think the reaction is going overboard - my bet would be that most kids aren't going to notice her cleavage at all. Yes it is low cut, but that is who she is.
To anyone who thinks it shouldn't be aired… this eyeroll is for you.
Guess I shouldn't take my girls to the beach either, lest someone isn't wearing a burkini!
Honestly she looks like she is in dress up clothes and its not revealing anything we don't see any where we go in public. They don't draw attention to it so why do people feel the need to make a big deal out of nothing? I would let my child(ren) watch it and take it for what its meant to be, a cute show for kids. Nothing more.
I don't think it is inappropriate at all. I can see how some people might view her outfit as a tad more revealing than you would normally see on Sesame Street though. She was on the today show wearing this or less, so was Lady Gaga. There were hundreds of kids in the audiences both times and knew every word. Was anyone upset about those appearances in less clothing?
I'm going to let Alligator watch it later. She loves music videos. =)
Yes, it's racey, but not so much that it should be yanked off air.
I mean, Ariel wears sea-shells and jasmine is barely covered....AND they make matching halloween costumes for those.
Hmmm, not sure baout the nightie! Must be the most fun Elmo has had in years.
I think it is just fine. The people at Sesame Street allowed her to remain true to herself and I don't see any harm in that. It wouldn't be Katy Perry if she was out there in pants and a turtleneck. I wouldn't change the channel just because of her outfit.
It's just silly. Seriously there's nothing wrong with it. Nothing kids couldn't see on any other program. People seriously need to get lives.
I let Beth watch this and she loved it, she's 3 and has a mild KP obsession. I don't see anything wrong with it and like you I wish parents would stop putting their crap on their kids!
Guess I should stop Tops and Baby Boy watching TV in general then. I mean the Proms the other week had more clevage on display than the cybermummy conference...
Well you know how prudish Americans can be! And I am one...American that is...not prudish. I suppose it wasn't the ideal clothing choice but I seriously don't think any preschool child is going to even notice. But I can see where PBS would pull it because they're not going to want to upset American mummies and get boycotted!
Americans need to lighten up a bit! :D

This is ridiculous! I've watches the video and seen nothing wrong with it!, What sort of age do we live in when we have to hide bare flesh from children? I would understand if she was naked! ( I would understand and possibly watch the video again just to make sure) but come on really? I've seen teachers showing more than that! :)
I think it would of been more appropriate if she had a dress which didnt show cleaverage. I think she has such a influence over young girls because of the type of music she comes out with , her last video that I saw on tv simply horrified me. She was barely wearing anything and at some points only a cloud was there to cover her modesty. I just think role models like this could make more of a effort to tone it down.
Both of my small people thinks she is perfect, and were actually a bit surprised that she "has so much of a dress on". They are unashamedly boob men, and probably always will be. The only thing they thought was a bit weird was the veil; they wondered if she was pretending that she was getting married to Elmo.
That's madness! Kids don't care about cleavage - it's the parents problem. I don't give a hoot about her cleavage. However, my daughter's love affair with Elmo may be in jeopardy when she sees him crooning with yet another woman! Now THAT is concerning.
