House Hunting

Looking for houses or flats here is an interesting experience. What we are noticing is that flats have way more space that houses, which obviously doesn't make logical sense.

So far we've seen:

-a 3 bedroom house
-a 3 bedroom duplex tenement flat (ground floor/basement)
-a 3 bedroom duplex new build (top floor)
-a 3 bedroom tenement flat (top floor)
-a 3 bedroom tenement flat (ground floor)
-a 5 bedroom duplex tenement flat (top floor)

We have 2 more viewing tonight of a flat and townhouse. We've mostly looked in the East End but today all our viewings are South Side.

For those who don't know a tenement looks like this:
-3-4 floor sandstone building usually with 2 flats per floor

-large rooms with bay windows, fireplaces and 15 foot ceilings.

We live in a one bedroom tenement now and my two favorite are also tenements. I'm trying to keep an open mind and view different types of properties and different areas, but I know what I like and what I don't like.

15 weeks

Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now out measure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements.

Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces . They're busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in their lungs begin to develop. Their legs are growing longer than their arms now, and they can move all of their joints and limbs. Although their eyelids are still fused shut, they can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, they're likely to move away from the beam.

There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but they are forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")

Monday Munchies

CNN had an article this weekend about 10 website to make you laugh. I knew about Someecards and Awkward Family Photos, but only one of the rest of the ten stuck out to me:

This is Why You're Fat

Now I understand the concept; food that is so calorific and disgusting it makes you fat. Such as:

The Bacon Weave Roll

Deep Fried Coke

or

Quadruple Cheese Pie

But there are other delicacies that I think aren't that out there or look yumtastic:
A Burger with Havarti and Bacon, mmm makes me think of Arthur's.

NBH has actually ordered a Munchy Box before, I'm not a fan of Pakora so it's not for me.

And all the various different takes on cheese fries really makes me want Skyline fries: DROOL!

I know some of you are going to say "Ooh you and your pregnancy cravings!" Anyone who really knows me knows that I'd be writing this post even if there wasn't a bebe. I like food especially anything vaguely American that I can't get over here.

Koh Samui

Samui is the third largest island in Thailand and located 700 km South of Bangkok in the Gulf of Thailand. Our flight from Bangkok was around 40 minutes with Bangkok Airways. Even though it was a short flight we got drinks and a sandwich, ooh la la.

We stayed at the Q Signature Samui which is up in the hills of the Samui Peninsula and only a 5 minute drive on their free shuttle to Chaweng beach. There was a beach surrounding the hotel as well.

I'd totally come back to this hotel again as it was secluded enough to be peaceful, but close enough to the "main town." It was also RIDICULOUSLY good value for money.

MJ 1958-2009

I know he wasn't exactly the picture of health or sanity these past few years, but I am truly shocked about the passing of Michael Jackson.

He was my first love. I can remember being a tiny little girl watching Thriller premiere and being scared and running upstairs, but then coming back down and watching it again (MTV played it twice in a row).

I loved him so much I had a Michael Jackson cake for my 3rd birthday. I even kissed the cake. I had MJ posters on my wall and a MJ barbie doll complete with only one glove.

I can't say I was a die-hard fan much past the age of 6, but it's still sad to lose such a musical icon at such a long age. I know he has been troubled, but I hope he is remembered for his music and not for the drama.

Happy Birthday to Me...

For some reason I thought it would be cool to pose with the sign saying "June 25th" at our hotel reception before we left for the airport.

Lovely cake I was surprised with back in Bangkok, but have yet to taste due to some "issues" acquired in Koh Samui...
